Why do we need the Purple Line?

Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrolton are cities in Maryland where you can easily commute to the DC area. However, although these cities have excellent proximity to the DC, traveling between these cities can be little frustrating. For example, if you want to visit the DC from College Park, you can just hop on the Green line and that’s it. But, if you are trying to go to Silver Spring from College Park by public transit, you need to go to the DC to transfer the metro.

But from 2026 or 2027, it’s going to be more convenient to travel or commute between these cities. The purple line is designed to link Montgomery county and Prince George’s county without passing through the DC.

Will the Purple Line Promote Real Estate Market in PG county and Montgomery county?

Undoubtedly yes, it will promote local real estate market, especially where Purple Line meets other metro lines to the DC. Because those areas will absorb two types of people, Maryland-DC travelers and Maryland-Maryland travelers at the same time. First, those areas will have more tenants than before, making the average rent in those cities higher. And then, their house price will get higher as their rent income is increased.

For successful real estate investment in Maryland, consider these four cities

Therefore, if you are considering middle term real estate investment in Maryland, you MUST consider these four cities where the Purple Line meets the DC metro lines.

Remember to consider condo first, because the rent demand will increase first.

  1. New Carrolton
